Stefano Montobbio


Stefano Montobbio is Research Director and Global Head of Investment Governance and ESG for EFG Asset Management where, among other things, he continues to directly oversee the ESG analysis and integration processes.

He joined EFG in 2017. Previously he was Head of Investment Coordination and ESG for BSI Bank, the biggest bank of the Italian speaking region of Switzerland, where he held various roles in the advisory, portfolio management business with direct responsibility for Area Europe clients portfolios and was member of the Group Investment Committee.

In 2008/9 he started developing the ESG concept for the group and in 2011 he built a frameworks to assess ESG risks for companies. Prior to joining BSI Stefano built the advisory business for Credit Agricole (Suisse) in Ticino and was fund manager for a European equity fund.

Since 2015 he lectures on Sustainable Finance at Centro Studi Villa Negroni in cooperation with USI (Università della Svizzera Italiana). Beside working activities, Stefano is Chairman at cenpro foundation.

Stefano holds a Master in Economic from the University of Genova, a CAS in Asset Management from the University of Bern/Rochester and an ESRA (Environmental and Social Risk Analyst) certificate from INCAE Business School/UNEP.
