Monetary policy in Poland: An overview

The National Bank of Poland (NBP) is one of the few central banks that has already started tightening monetary policy. Since October, the NBP has raised interest rates four times by a cumulative 2.15% to 2.25%. Further increases in the near term appear likely. These developments raise the issue of how monetary policy is conducted in Poland and how it may evolve in the coming months. In this context, it is useful to look at the NBP’s policy framework and review recent policy developments during the Covid pandemic.
