An eventful start to leg 3 of The Ocean Race for Team Malizia
It’s certainly been an eventful first week in the 3rd leg of The Ocean Race for our partners Team Malizia and skipper Boris Herrmann. Having led for a lot of the inshore start in Cape Town on Sunday, they were in a strong position heading towards the Southern Ocean for the 12,750 nautical mile long journey to Itajaí, Brazil. Then, 2 days into the race, Malizia – Seaexplorer’s mast suffered significant damage when a headsail fell into the water, necessitating a gruelling repair whilst at sea.
