In this special short video, we go ‘behind the scenes’ to get an insight into the lives of Southbank Sinfonia’s talented musicians as they set about gaining the skills and orchestral experience needed to springboard their professional careers, and become role models in the community.
Opening with an uplifting performance at the Tower of London after months of lockdown, we follow the excitement of the move to a new home at St John’s Smith Square; watch as they pass the baton onto the future generations of music lovers in an inspiring family workshop, before finally returning to what they love best, performing in front of live audiences at their ‘Rush Hour’ concerts.
Highlights from the year include a fantastic collaboration with the British Youth Opera at Opera Holland Park and mentoring students from Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School, before joining forces for a large-scale performance of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No 5 at St John’s Smith Square.
Our long-standing partnership with Southbank Sinfonia has built up over the past decade and keeps evolving, allowing us to actively support the next generation of talent, a theme that underpins many of our sponsorships at EFG. As this year’s Fellowship draws to a close, we applaud their passion and dedication and look forward to celebrating the 20th anniversary of Southbank Sinfonia in 2022.
