The Vendée Globe may be a solo race, but Boris Herrmann will have the full support of Team Malizia, and EFG as a long-standing main partner, behind him. Over the summer, Malizia – Seaexplorer underwent an intense re-fit, with every little detail checked to make sure the boat is as competitive and reliable as possible. Given it is an unassisted race, Boris Herrmann needs to be able to repair almost anything on board himself and as co-skipper Will Harris explains in this video, preparation is key, given “80% of the race is decided before we’ve even crossed the start line”.
The Vendée Globe 2024/25 marks the 10th edition and with the largest ever fleet in race history taking part, it promises to be fiercely competitive. Team Malizia’s preparation has gone very well so far, they had two successful transatlantic races earlier in the year, finishing in second place in both legs, and Boris Herrmann is considered a serious contender for a podium place in the Vendée Globe.
Each edition of the race is unique and produces remarkable stories of adventure, skill and bravery. It can be a life changing experience for the skippers as they push emotional, physical and technological boundaries in pursuit of success. No one knows quite what the 2024/25 Vendée Globe has in store, but Team Malizia will be hoping that all their preparation – both mental and physical - will translate to success on the water.
